The Fundamentals of Sponsored Project Administration at CSU

This program will provide a broad overview of sponsored project administration throughout the lifecycle of an award. Sessions will focus on CSU systems, practices, policies, and infrastructure in support of sponsored project administration.

Introduction to Sponsored Programs at CSU:

Intro provides an overview of the organizational structure, systems, and policies related to sponsored project administration at CSU.

Budgets, Budgets, Budgets Part I:

Session 1 of Budgets focuses on roles and responsibilities around proposal development and submission at CSU and will dip into considerations around budget development and cost allowability.

The second Budgets session explores best practices in budgeting at CSU – what’s allowable and what’s not. It will also cover subawards, cost sharing, and specific sponsor nuances.

What does it take to get a project setup? Come learn about award types and basic award elements, including standard terms and conditions and required elements for establishing an award at CSU.

Award Management Part I:
Presenters: Sam Reynolds and Paula White
Explore the variety in the day-to-day best practices for fiscal management of a sponsored award, including daily management, cost transfers, reconciling, re-budgeting, and effort reporting. This session focuses mainly on the responsibilities of departmental and unit administration.

Award Management Part II:

Switching to another perspective of lifecycle management, part 2 addresses areas where OSP generally has the most involvement, including award modifications/amendments, expanded authorities, reporting, and project closeout.
