CRA Study Program

The CRA, CPRA, and CFRA are credentials offered by the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC). Earning the Certified Research Administration (CRA) certification means that one has met the required qualifications and passed an exam on a wide body of knowledge in research administration, including project development and administration; legal requirements and sponsor interface; financial management; and general management.

The 2026 Spring Study Group is hosted in collaboration between Colorado State University and Emory University , but all are welcome. Sessions are 75 minutes, weekly from January – March, on Mondays 1:00 PM – 2:15 PM MT. Sessions are hosted by various CRA/CFRA/CPRAs. Expect to engage with interactive resources and curated practice questions. Our program is a study resource, but you will need to plan additional time and effort outside of the group to best prepare for the exam.

Our program is focused on the CRA, generally, because the content overlaps with all 3 exams. If you plan on taking the CPRA or CFRA exam, please let us know so we can direct you to additional resources for support. Learn more about the CRA, including application requirements, testing format/sites, recertification requirements, and required fees on the RACC website.

Applicant Requirements

1.) The CRA exam is rigorous. Applicants must be willing to study several hours/week outside the guided study sessions.

2.) An email containing applicant’s Name (first & last), Department/Unit , Institution, and commitment to the program must be submitted to [email protected].
