The Research Software Facility (RSF) is a CSU internal service to aid researchers in transforming ideas into robust, user-friendly software. Whether creating a new application or enhancing an existing one, we partner with faculty, research groups, and centers across campus to design, build, and maintain custom tools that advance research, education, and outreach.
What We Do
RSF delivers full-service software development tailored to academic research, including:
- Frontend and backend development (full-stack) for websites, mobile applications, and desktop applications
- Data visualization and dashboard design
- Database development and hosting support
- API integration with external tools or CSU systems
- Grant proposal support, including budgets and technical language
Our solutions are scalable, maintainable, and reproducible, aligning with the priorities of the academic research community. RSF engages in flexibility and commitment to meeting the diverse software needs of the university community.
Multidisciplinary Impact
RSF’s collaborations span a wide range of disciplines and research priorities. We have partnered with faculty, research groups, and administrative units from five of CSU’s eight colleges, as well as Military Sciences and the Office of the Vice President for Research.
Our projects have supported initiatives in fields as varied as climate science, historic literature, engineering, and educational technology—delivering software that powers data collection, visualization, analysis, and public engagement.
