Transform opportunities for success
The time is right to think differently about funding.
As changes at the federal level take shape, it’s time to hone the best strategies for securing funding for projects.
Research Acceleration Office resources
CSU’s Research Acceleration Office serves the needs of researchers by strategically supporting their efforts to identify and attract funding, develop proposals, cultivate innovative partnerships and teams, align proposals with current funding agency priorities, and create effective funding strategies that increase competitiveness. RAO is a hub that connects researchers to a multitude of resources and offices, based on each researcher’s needs.

Build new teams to leverage opportunities
Could a project benefit from strengthening new interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary teams, expanding external cross-sector partnership networks, or pursuing new and broader award opportunities?
The Catalyst Program, Ready, Set, Go, helps you think bigger by making new connections and building creative collaborations to pursue strategic, high-impact funding opportunities. Leverage these new ideas and alliances, along with structures, documents, roadmaps and other resources to target and secure the right funding for your project.
Personalized assistance
Looking for personalized assistance in pursuing, writing and securing grants? The Research Acceleration Office team office hours give researchers time with experts for valuable one-on-one conversations for specific, tailored help.
Use office hours to help expand funding opportunities and develop a strategy for successful grant applications.
CSU Writes

Write successful proposals
CSU Writes, a year-round program that helps CSU researchers, across the career span, build productive writing habits and complete high-stakes documents. Through writing retreats, intensive sessions and targeted support, CSU Writes fosters a community of researchers who write with greater focus, confidence and impact.
In partnership with the Research Acceleration Office, CSU Writes also gives specialized grant writing training, including for early career researchers. Summer writing sessions run through July
Find diversified funding opportunities
With the changing federal landscape, it’s important to diversify research funding and find new sources that fit research interests.
- Grant resources: CSU researchers can get support to find grants and develop proposals through an external resource. Get weekly grant alerts, regular grant cycle calendars and training. Check out additional resources from the Research Acceleration Office.
- NEW – Pivot database: CSU recently invested in Pivot, a database to find, share, and track new matching funding and partnership opportunities based on specific criteria and customizable faculty profile. Pivot-RP replaces the previous SPIN funding database.
- Funding from private philanthropic foundations: Diversify funding by identifying sources other than government agencies. University Advancement provides a list of non-profit organizations and foundations that support research and programs. CSU researchers can sign up for regular updates to the list by contacting Dennis Bigelow, assistant director of University Advancement Foundation Relations, at [email protected].
Additional resources for foundation and private donor support are available through University Advancement.
