About the Clinical Review Board

What is the CRB?

The CSU veterinary Clinical Review Board (CRB), in collaboration with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), conducts the review and approval process for projects that involve the use of client-owned animals in research, teaching, and testing. The CRB supports quality and ethical conduct of research through the peer review process and educational opportunities.

Who is the CRB? The CRB shall consist of at least six members, which shall include:

  1. The CRB Chair
  2. The CRB
  3. Coordinator/Specialist
  4. One or more faculty members from CVMBS
  5. A standing member of IACUC
  6. The CSU VTH Hospital Director
  7. The Chair of the Department of Clinical Sciences at CSU
  8. The CSU Veterinary Health System (VHS) Director

What do I do if I have a complaint or concern about animal care?

The CRB and IACUC take seriously all concerns regarding the care and use of animals at the institution, regardless of who submits the concern. Concerns may be reported in a number of ways: in person, via phone call, email, or anonymously online or via phone. See the CSU IACUC Reporting Animal Welfare Concerns website for more information. Any member of the CRB or IACUC may also be contacted with concerns. The IACUC will investigate each concern in as confidential a manner as possible. Those registering complaints need not give personal information. Patient care questions can be directed to the involved veterinary clinician.
