Scheduled Maintenance: SciShield is unavailable for routine maintenance each week from Wednesday, 8:00 p.m. MT, through Thursday, 4:00 a.m. MT. Users are encouraged to plan submissions and other activities outside of this maintenance window.

SciShield is Colorado State University’s biological research management platform. It serves as the central repository for biosafety compliance activities and IBC protocol management, while also supporting IACUC training administration and inspection management.

The foundation of SciShield is the Laboratory Profile, which contains information about laboratory personnel, laboratory spaces, hazards, and job activities. Information entered in the Laboratory Profile is shared across SciShield’s modules and used to support compliance processes and oversight activities.

CSU uses three modules in SciShield:

• Biological Module (Bio Mod): Manages IBC registrations and approvals, including biological agents, projects, amendments, and renewals.
• Training Module: Provides access to biosafety and IACUC training, tracks completion records, and helps supervisors monitor training requirements.
• Inspection Module: Supports biosafety outreach visits and IACUC inspections through electronic reports, documentation uploads, corrective action tracking, and compliance monitoring.
