Research Information Technology recently reorganized from Research Services to better align across the Research Enterprise. This reorganization represented a key decision from the Office of the Vice President of Research to focus on the broader services of information technology beyond research administration services. This alignment effort in August of 2023 included the reorganization of Research Computing and Cyberinfrastructure and Research Data Security and Compliance from the central Division of Information Technology. A focused effort to better align researcher needs was the purpose of this realignment.
The Research Information Technology (Research IT) department provides services and support to the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) division for research systems spanning the breadth of research administration to high-performance computing and data management. We impact and increase the velocity of the research project lifecycle to expand how we address IT and systems to meet the needs of research. Research IT works as a central service provider to enhance enterprise-wide research while also ensuring technology alignment within the institution’s larger IT context.
