While the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.research.colostate.edu\/rao\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"7\">Research Acceleration Office<\/a>\u00a0(Research Development) focuses on the strategic aspects of this process and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.research.colostate.edu\/osp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Office of Sponsored Programs<\/a>\u00a0(Research Administration) focuses on the administrative components, strategy and administration share an area of overlap. Strategy informs what is included in administrative documents, and strategic processes often involve administrative requirements. While great attention must be paid to the laying out of goals, the research process, and other components, proposal writers must also remember to craft a narrative\u2013they are&nbsp;<strong>telling the story<\/strong>&nbsp;of their projects and describing why others should care about them, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grant writing is persuasive writing. You are selling your idea, your project, yourself, your team, and your institution\u2026and the funder needs to buy it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Proposal Writing Tips<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Grant language should always be&nbsp;<strong>clear and straightforward<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clearly state<\/strong>&nbsp;your hypotheses, questions, objectives, and goals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong narratives answer core questions&nbsp;<strong>clearly and succinctly<\/strong>. \u200b<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide&nbsp;<strong>sufficient evidence<\/strong>&nbsp;of preliminary work.\u200b<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Situate your proposal within the&nbsp;<strong>context of the current field<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t let&nbsp;<strong>jargon<\/strong>&nbsp;get in the way of context.
