{"id":7851,"date":"2023-06-20T08:00:01","date_gmt":"2023-06-20T14:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.research.colostate.edu\/osp\/?p=7851"},"modified":"2023-06-20T08:00:01","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T14:00:01","slug":"fyi-tricky-acronyms-ahead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.research.colostate.edu\/osp\/2023\/06\/20\/fyi-tricky-acronyms-ahead\/","title":{"rendered":"FYI &#8211; Tricky Acronyms Ahead!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the NSF Virtual Conference, held June 5-8, 2023, frequently asked questions were, \u201cWhat is the difference between a Program Officer and a Grants Officer at NSF?\u201d and \u201cWho from the grantee institution should contact which NSF Person if there are questions?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each Division within NSF has a <strong>Program Officer<\/strong><strong>. <\/strong>They are experts from the research community who guide grant proposals through the merit review process. Also, NSF Program Officers are a valuable resource for both proposal-stage applicants and PIs\/Co-PIs who have been funded, as they can provide insight and often give direct feedback on <em>technical and scientific questions<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>An NSF <strong>Grants Officer<\/strong> works for the NSF Division of Grants and Agreements (DGA) and is responsible for the awarding of grants and agreements that have been recommended for funding and <em>administering the award from pre-award to closeout<\/em>.
