Kuali Build
Kuali Build is a web-based form submission and approval routing tool. CSU is currently using the Build application for several forms. OSP uses Build for Kuali Research Proposal Development role requests, which was covered in a recent Tech Tuesday Tip. In October 2021, we moved new Sponsor and new Organization requests to Build.
Using Kuali Build
On the Kuali Build home page (link) Home will display all forms available for use. If you are designated as an applicant or approver on any form, it will be displayed on your Action List. Submissions contains the history of forms you have submitted to workflow for approval, in any workflow state. Drafts of forms you have saved also appear on the Submissions page.
- On the Submissions page you can view the workflow and approval status of any forms you have completed.
Actions available at form creation stage: Submit, Save and Discard.
You can either submit the completed form to workflow for approvals, save the form to your Submissions page (Drafts), or discard the form if it is no longer needed or created in error.
Actions available during workflow routing: Approve, Save, Send Back, Deny.
If you are designated as an applicant or approver on the form, you have the option to approve or deny the request, with optional comments. Save will keep the form in your Action List as it currently appears. You can also send the form back to a workflow step of your choice, (depending on the form) with comments.
Notifications
Email notifications are sent at form submission, approval, denial, or the send back step with relevant information and a link to the form if any action is required on your part.
OSP Form Locations
The Kuali Research Roles Request is located on the OSP website Forms page.
The new Sponsor, new Organization request links are located on the KR landing page Quick Links area and on their respective lookup pages.
Notes
- The distinction between a “Sponsor” and an “Organization” in KR is important when completing a new request. Sponsors are entities providing funding to CSU, while Organizations are subrecipients of funding from CSU.
- If a request is submitted for a Sponsor that should be an Organization, (or vice versa) a new request of the correct type must be submitted instead.
