The CSU Spur Drone Aviation Summer Program is a unique, immersive one-week seminar designed to reach diverse groups of Colorado high school students and instructors to facilitate workforce development and train the next generation of aviators! Offered at a significant discount to participants, new pilots train in the classroom and on the flight line and take their FAA Remote Pilot exam following the completion of the program.

This engaging, immersive seminar is hosted at the CSU Spur campus in Denver, and is based on the CSU Drone Center’s extremely popular Drone Flight School curriculum, which has trained over 1700 pilots from across the region. High school and high school-adjacent students will train, fly, explore and learn on a wide variety of aircraft, and instructors will receive curriculum development materials to facilitate future programming. This opportunity is offered to high school students and instructors in the Denver area to broaden the availability of drone and crewed aviation to under-represented populations in the industry, and to eliminate barriers to technical & vocational education in the region. Participants must be 15 or older.

Three identical sessions will run June 22-26, July 6-10, and July 20-24 of 2026. Applicants may select their preferred and alternate sessions, first-come, first-served!

The cost for this drone pilot adventure is $199, including all materials, support and FAA testing fees. Needs-based scholarships are available, prioritizing those students who reside in the Spur area. Students are responsible for daily transportation to the CSU Spur campus.
