Capturing
- There are many ways a password can be “captured” and compromised
- Phishing
- Shoulder-surfing
- Keylogger
- Extracting from memory
- Man-in-the-Middle attack
- Social Engineering
- The danger of a password being captured is that it is seen/captured plainly and immediately useable and bypasses the protection of having a long and complex password
- Multi-Factor Authentication is by far the best protection to prevent access when a password has been captured, as they will need that additional piece to authenticate
