Capturing

  • There are many ways a password can be “captured” and compromised
  • Phishing
  • Shoulder-surfing
  • Keylogger
  • Extracting from memory
  • Man-in-the-Middle attack
  • Social Engineering

  • The danger of a password being captured is that it is seen/captured plainly and immediately useable and bypasses the protection of having a long and complex password

  • Multi-Factor Authentication is by far the best protection to prevent access when a password has been captured, as they will need that additional piece to authenticate
