Materials Properties
The Materials Properties Laboratory at ARC provides thermal and magnetic characterization services for a wide range of materials, including thin films, solids, liquids, and nanoparticles. Our facility supports researchers across disciplines by offering precise measurements to assess fundamental material properties critical to scientific and industrial applications.
Services:
- Thermal Analysis – Characterization of phase transitions, stability, and heat capacity.
- Magnetic Property Measurements – Temperature- and field-dependent analysis of magnetic susceptibility, hysteresis, and Néel temperature.
- Physical Property Measurements – Heat capacity, thermal transport, electrical resistivity (DC & AC), Hall effect, and magnetic characterization.
Our lab operates in both full-service and self-use modes, allowing researchers the flexibility to conduct their own experiments or collaborate with our experts for tailored analysis. We provide expert guidance in experimental design and data analysis.
Instruments:
- TA Q500 TGA – Thermal stability, decomposition kinetics, and volatile component analysis (ambient to 900°C).
- TA 2500 DSC – Glass transition, melting points, crystallinity, heat capacity, and cure rate analysis (sub-ambient accessory available).
- Quantum Design MPMS3 – 7T superconducting magnet, SQUID AC susceptibility, VSM, electrical transport, and temperature control (1.8K–1000K).
- Quantum Design PPMS – 9T magnet, DC resistivity, electrical and thermal transport, heat capacity, VSM, and temperature control (1.8K–1000K).
